Monthly Car Rental vs Buying or Leasing in Dubai
For many Dubai residents — especially new arrivals and those on 1–2 year contracts — monthly rental beats buying once you count the full cost of ownership. Here’s the honest math for 2026.
What monthly rental includes
- Comprehensive insurance
- Registration and renewal
- Routine maintenance and servicing
- Replacement car if yours is in the workshop
- No down payment and no loan
What buying really costs
Buying means a down payment, monthly finance with interest, plus insurance, registration, servicing, tyres, and — the big one — depreciation. A new car can lose 15–25% of its value in year one. If you might leave the UAE or change jobs, you also carry resale risk and the hassle of selling.
When renting monthly wins
- You’re in Dubai for under ~2–3 years.
- You don’t want a loan or a lump-sum down payment.
- You want a fixed, predictable monthly cost with zero maintenance admin.
- You want to change cars (e.g. SUV for summer trips, economy for the city).
When buying wins
If you’re staying long-term (4+ years), drive very high mileage, and want to own an asset, financing a purchase can work out cheaper over time. For everyone else, monthly rental usually wins on flexibility and total cost.

Frequently asked questions
Is insurance included in the rental price?
Yes — comprehensive insurance (CDW) with a standard excess is included on every rental. You can reduce the excess to zero by adding optional Full Protection. We explain the excess amount for your chosen car before you book.
Can I rent a car monthly instead of buying?
Yes — monthly rental is one of our most popular options. It bundles insurance, registration and maintenance into one fixed price with no down payment, and you can swap or return the car with notice. It’s often cheaper than financing for under-2-year horizons.
Is there a mileage limit?
Each car includes a generous free daily allowance (typically 250–350 km/day, pooled over the rental). Extra kilometres are charged at a small per-km rate. Monthly rentals include a monthly allowance — we’ll confirm the exact figure for your car.
